I arrived in Antigua on Tuesday, November 19th and returned home on Sunday, November 24th. This was the first trip of my journey to living my life
Day 1: Tropical Beginnings and Bold Intentions
I went to Antigua to attend my daughter’s weeking, The wedding was beautiful. It was nice to see all of Brittany’s friends gathering around to celebrate her beginning of a new phase in her life.
ME: From Self-Conscious to Self-Assured
It was my first day on the island, and I spent it wrapped up in overthinking—too self-conscious, too worried about what others might think of me. But that stops here. Wednesday is my day to step into the Tonia I’m becoming
the one who lives boldly, authentically, and fully present.
THE SURROUNDS: Bats, Breezes, and Bold Reminders
Antigua at night hums with life—or, more accurately, screams it. What I thought were crickets on caffeine turned out to be bats! The sound was a bit overwhelming at first, but it’s a vivid reminder: I’m not in Kansas anymore (not that I was in Kansas before).
The house itself feels like it was built to breathe. With high ceilings and open windows, the Caribbean breeze flows through effortlessly, making the heat and humidity feel like a welcome hug. Perfectly imperfect for this tropical adventure.
Today I have be intentional regarding my behavior. Yesterday, I was too self-conscious and waaay to concerned with what others might think of me. But I’m determined to approach today with purpose, bringing forward the Tonia I’m becoming. The one who lives boldly, authentically, and fully present.

THE FOOD: A Taste of Nostalgia (or Lack Thereof)
Curry and jerk chicken were on the menu, and while everyone else seemed to love it, I found it…meh. Maybe I’m spoiled by the authentic Antiguan flavors my ex-husband and mother-in-law used to whip up back in the day.
Day 1 Food Rating: 3/5. Not terrible, but not the flavor explosion I was craving. Here’s hoping the culinary adventure picks up from here—stay tuned!

Closing Thoughts: Day 1
I’m had mixed emotions reflection and anticipation. I didn’t dive in as boldly as I’d hoped, but Ithis is just the beginning. The sounds of the tropics, the warm breeze, and even the underwhelming meal are all reminders that I’m stepping into something new, something outside my comfort zone.
How AI Helped Me: Day 1 in Review
This journey isn’t about writing emails or using AI to fake a book, it’s about real change. Day 1 in Antigua was my first big step toward pushing past fears and living this complacent life in an apartment with someone I don’t like and who does not like me.
What I did differently was leave my apartment in Connecticut to venture out. This isn’t just a trip, this is a decision to live the life I deserve and to break from the me that has held me back my entire life. AI helped me get here with guided my planning, encouraged me to face my fears, and helped me turn my emotions into reflections I could be proud to share.
Headings like “Tropical Beginnings and Bold Intentions” weren’t just words—they captured the transformation I’m stepping into. AI isn’t doing the work for me; it’s helping me create a life I never thought possible. If you’re ready to make a change, AI can help you too.
That’s a wrap on Day 1. Drop your questions or suggestions below.
